Emerson voted yes on bailout after changes

The following quote from the article shows where Emerson's loyalties truly are:

"Emerson was also convinced to vote for the measure when associations representing businesses showed almost unanimous support for the bill, Connor said."

Called Representative Emerson's office. I asked if Rep. Emerson had a position on the new version of the bailout and was told that she hasn't "issued a position" on the new version. I let the person answering the phones know that I considered the bailout an unnecessary intervention in the free market. In addition I made it clear that if Rep. Emerson votes yes on this bill, I will vote against her in any future election.

We are very disappointed in Jo Ann. She is very well known down here, and when I called her office Friday the 26th I voiced my passionate opinion and that of many of our business customers. Many of which say they are so angry they’re ready to revolt and or riot to get some action. Jo Ann’s aid said she was “wholeheartedly AGAINST this bailout” and I thanked them. We were deeply shocked and disappointed when on Monday, the 29th Ms. Emerson stabbed us in the back like every other politician and voted FOR the bailout. Apparent she is not “whole” and she is “heartless.” This prompted me to call her office again. This time I was told to give them my name and address so Jo Ann could send me a letter and tell me why she voted for this massive lie. And yes, I received the ten word line we all heard about mainstream, but nothing about the constitutionality or the illegal and socialistic style of this trash bill. We will do ALL we can to jerk Ms. Emerson OUT of Washington once and for all, for her stupid vote, and for lying to us.

Jo Ann Emerson not receptive to financial bailout package

US Representative Jo Ann Emerson has lukewarm feelings towards the Bush Administration’s proposed financial bailout package. Emerson, who represents Missouri’s 8th District, believes Congress should avoid rushing into a decision without understanding the full extent of the crisis.

Emerson also questions if this is the final financial situation that the government will have to address. “We were told back when the bailout of Bear Stearns was done that Bears Stearns was it,” she cites. “And, well Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and then suddenly we had AIG, and then suddenly it was this.”

Emerson believes that the Administration and Congress still do not have a complete assessment of the situation. Rushing to give $700 million to the Treasury Department may or may not stop the bleeding, but she says “I don’t know if anybody can answer that question.”

She says that she would prefer to stay in session until Christmas instead of hurrying a flawed bill.

Called Jo Ann Emerson's district office. According to the office, as of today - September 29th - she has taken no position. They are taking feedback and forwarding it to Jo Ann Emerson's DC office. I gave my name and address and expressed my opinion that I was opposed to the bailout because I do not believe in government intervention in the free market. In addition I believe the bailout will harm rather than help the sitation.
